We believe in a future where our communities, Country, and climate are cared for — where no one is left to carry the cost of a crisis they didn’t create.
Right now, that’s not the world we’re living in. Australians are paying for rising costs of floods, fires, heatwaves, infrastructure damage and droughts through rising council rates, insurance premiums, rising food costs and emergency service levies.
But we know there’s a better way. Billionaire coal and gas corporations must start paying their fair share to cover the damage they’ve done to our climate and the ongoing cost of adaptation and resilience.
That’s why we’re demanding a Climate Compensation Fund, established by the federal government using a coal and gas export pollution levy to generate billions of dollars annually to fund our communities.
We call on Prime Minister Albanese and Treasurer Jim Chalmers to put a levy on coal and gas exports to pay for climate disaster recovery and adaptation costs.
