About Us

We are a coalition of climate and social justice organisations based in Australia and the Pacific.

A world to win

Our Vision

The Climate Justice Coalition is united behind a dream of an Australia free from the stranglehold of billionaire coal and gas corporations, where First Nations people own and have control of their own lands, where the Pacific region can thrive, and communities everywhere are safe from the impacts of climate change.

We’re building a powerful movement to win a future we can all believe in.

And only a people-powered movement that is connected, coordinated and courageous can get us there. Will you join us?

What is Climate Justice?

Escalating unnatural disasters are impacting everyone, but not equally. If we are all in boats to weather the storm, some of us are in dinghies, and some of us are in super yachts. The same goes for those who caused the problem in the first place – a small handful of wealthy individuals and corporations.

We can have a world where everyone gets to thrive in the place they call home, and gets to make informed decisions about what happens in their lives. For First Nations people that means having the final say over Country, and for the Torres Strait and Pacific that means being able to continue to practice culture and care for the community on their island homes.

The climate crisis shines a light on the ways that we are not equal. It opens our eyes to the cracks in the system that was set up to serve a few, rather than all of us together in harmony with nature. It gives us an opportunity to reimagine our relationship to each other, with nature, and with future generations. We make the future, but we’re going to have to fight for it.

Australia’s biggest contribution to the global climate crisis is our coal and gas exports – and it’s First Nations people who are on the frontline of mining, bearing the brunt of the health, water and air pollution impacts.

We can live well without living at the expense of others. Workers, community residents, women and Indigenous Peoples have a fundamental human right to clean, healthy and adequate air, water, land, food, education, and shelter. We must have just relationships with each other and with the natural world, of which we are a part.

To change everything, we need everyone
